Carley Matsumoto, M.P.P.

Collaborating Consultant

Carley is originally from outside of Chicago, but her career began in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she spent 13 years cultivating her skills and passion for program evaluation and data visualization. Her interest in evaluation started when she worked for a nonprofit in Minneapolis that supported the work of artists with disabilities. There was always a need to communicate the organization’s impact, but rarely the resources to design sustainable methods to collect, analyze, or visualize data insights about program outcomes. This need led Carley to pursue a Master’s in Public Policy from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs where her focus was Nonprofit Management and Program Evaluation.

After graduating, Carley worked as an in-house program evaluator for a nonprofit that supported young adults with autism in their pursuit of independent, community-integrated lives. During her seven years in this role, she gained valuable experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to design effective data management systems and ensure the results were accessible and understandable to diverse populations. Carley has since moved back to Chicago to be closer to her family and continue to work as a data analysis consultant.
